Informed Consent
Testable includes built-in support for collecting informed consent. Configure your preferred approach in Setup → Informed Consent.
Consent options
Section titled “Consent options”Option 1: No consent (default)
Section titled “Option 1: No consent (default)”No consent screen is shown. Participants start directly from the general instruction screen. Suitable when consent is handled externally (e.g. via a recruitment platform’s own consent process).
Option 2: Upload a consent form
Section titled “Option 2: Upload a consent form”Upload an image or PDF as your consent document. Participants must scroll through and confirm they have read it before proceeding. This is the simplest approach when you already have an approved consent form.
Option 3: Text editor
Section titled “Option 3: Text editor”Write or paste your consent or participant information sheet directly in Testable’s rich-text editor. Use headers, bullet points, and links. The formatted text is shown to participants as a scrollable information sheet with a single “I consent” checkbox at the bottom.
Option 4: Custom consent form
Section titled “Option 4: Custom consent form”Build a structured consent form with up to 6 individual consent items. Each item consists of:
- A statement describing what the participant is consenting to
- An “I consent” button
- An “I do not consent” button
Participants must acknowledge each item individually. This approach provides granular evidence of consent and is suited to complex or multi-part studies.
Downloading proof of consent
Section titled “Downloading proof of consent”For custom consent forms, Testable generates a downloadable consent record for each participant. The record lists each item and the participant’s response (consent / no consent), with a timestamp.
Handling consent refusal
Section titled “Handling consent refusal”Configure a debrief for consent rejectors in the same panel. This message is shown to participants who click “I do not consent” on any item in a custom form, or who choose not to proceed past the information sheet. It typically thanks them for their time.
